- Describe the role of ethics in alumni programming and how it supports trust, safety, and long-term recovery relationships.
- Identify common ethical challenges in alumni work, including boundary management, confidentiality, self-disclosure, representation in marketing, and financial or referral conflicts.
- Apply a step-by-step ethical decision-making process to real-world scenarios, such as the use of event photos or alumni testimonials.
- Outline key elements of an ethical alumni culture, including clear policies, ongoing training, open communication, leadership modeling, and collaboration with clinical and compliance teams.
- Use checklists and established codes of ethics to evaluate alumni initiatives for clarity of purpose, consent practices, dual-relationship risks, and potential financial conflicts.
